Mission

The five marks of mission of the Worldwide Anglican Communion give us a clear guide as to what is expected of Christians around the world. In summary these are:

  • Tell - to proclaim the good news of the kingdom
  • Teach - to teach, baptise and nurture new believers
  • Tend - to respond to human need by loving service
  • Transform - to seek to transform the unjust structures of society
  • Treasure - to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth

When Jesus issued the great commission, we were commanded to 'go into all the world and proclaim the good news' Mark 16:15.

Mens Breakfast

On the first Saturday of each month, from 8.30am to 10.30am, a group of men meet to share breakfast, fellowship and to enjoy a talk relating to the world around them and their spiritual journey.

The group is affiliated to 'Christian Viewpoint for Men' who have a register for excellent speakers and also help support Men's groups by advising on outreach and publicity material.

More information regarding the meetings may be found on the church notice board at Holy Cross Church, Felsted.

Pastoral Care

We have a Pastoral Care team who are willing to visit people in their homes, with a listening ear and a caring heart. Everything heard is confidential and does not go beyond the person sharing and the person listening. This ministry is not just for church members but for anyone with a need in the community.

All details can be found at Holy Cross Church, Felsted.

Other activities

As well as all the individual ways in which members of our congregations fulfil the obligations of these Marks of Mission, there are several schemes or projects that we at Holy Cross and the Priory Church support that look beyond just our local area.

Amongst these are Paxtoncrafts, and Felsted Aid for Deprived Children which have their own sites. We also support the Daybreak Drug Project. You could also check the 'Other Links' page.

DAYBREAK DRUG PROJECT

As a parish, we also support the Daybreak Project. The Daybreak is a Christian Drug Rehabilitaion Centre at Dagenham.

We have held fundraising events, and Rita Pennington, Manager at Daybreak, has been to speak to us.
